I'd be interested in hearing your ideas; here are some of our solutions:

1. For PvP, approval system with average level display, as well as geographical areas where approval system is not in effect (certain dungeons).
2. Property ownage focused into secret bases, as one poster suggested. As in most MMORPGs, PVP servers exist separate from regular game play servers. When you enter a PVP server, you're going in knowing that you (and the other people playing within that server) are looking for a fight. Secondly, most MMORPGs require that both parties agree to the fight before starting. If a player with 6 lvl 99 pokemon challenges someone with significantly weaker pokemon, the second player can simply turn down the offer to battle. Different battle tactics should also be agreed upon before the battle starts, like whether or not Potions, Revives, or Heal Sprays can be used. This can all be discussed and agreed upon by the two trainers. I'd imagine that if the world of Pokemon existed in any kind of reality, this is how a battle would happen anyway. Not so much as it does in the traditional GBA and DS games (where you can't decline a battle and are forced into it). Also, many MMORPGs have PVP servers that work on a sliding scale. Levels 0-20 on Server 1; Levels 21-30 on Server 2, etc etc.

Playing with your friends would actually be easy. Simply agree to enter a single server. "Okay, today we're meeting on the Blue Server." If one or more people can't get in (because of over-crowding) simply switch out and find another, less crowded server to play in. A company like Nintendo can afford to put some decent financial support into purchasing and maintaining server space and if the business proves lucrative enough, I'm sure they'd have no problem securing additional servers if needed.

Secret bases also have a simple solution. Regardless of what server you're on, the virtual world remains constant. If you travel to a distant land IRL, you can't just pop back into the comfort of home whenever you feel like it. You'd have to travel back; the same should be done in a Virtual Pokemon world. Besides, once you have a Pokemon that can Fly (which is around the time you should be establishing a base anyway), getting back to your HQ shouldn't be too much of a problem. HQs would probably cost an additional fee (like a Regular Membership vs. Premium Membership) to pay for the space you're taking up on the Server. Plenty of MMORPGs have "houses" and "property" that individual players own and maintain. This is also not an issue.

If a new generation of Wii (or a completely new gaming system from Nintendo...) comes out, it would seem logical (at least from a business standpoint) for Nintendo to increase the system's online performance capabilities. Online gaming is a lucrative business and the company would be foolish to pass up such an obvious opportunity to expand it's appeal. There's already an established community begging for a Pokemon MMORPG, new fans coming around all the time (what with Diamond and Pearl on television) and old fans (like myself) who are rediscovering just why they loved this game as a kid.

Any problem like the ones mentioned here can be easily overcome by some careful planning on the part of the game designers. And don't forget; all MMORPGs go through extensive Beta-testing to work out the initial kinks and most have frequent updates to improve gameplay as the game expands and grows.

I wouldn't be surprised if a Pokemon-based MMORPG is already in development or will be within the next few years. Again, Nintendo is a business, and like all businesses, it exists to generate profits. Wasting a market like this is financial suicide.

well having pokemon mmorpg would be one of the bi...

well having pokemon mmorpg would be one of the biggest hits in a game history....like WOW....but i think since the nintendo makers know that the only why thats possible is to make it available on pc...computer play...which would decrease the income the nintendo company is getting on..WII and other nintendo gaming products... so if they are brave enough ...they would create some kind of way to make money and also make the game availabe on pc...which people all over the world would be able to participate in it....
well before i finish my idea...i see that there were a lot talk about lvls ..well just some other game i know like archlord....if a player fights another player who isn's in 5 lvls below him, he would get a point decreased and stuff and he have to write a latter ...in game...i have no idea how these works ...and get back to his original status ..so i suggest that when they make the pokemon game, they would give the character an overall lvl so that it would be determined my that..

(sorryif there are any spelling errors in the writing ..it gets annying sometimes...)
thanks for hearing my ideas ...

Daniel...I have a couple of comments on your point...

Daniel...I have a couple of comments on your points.

1. "institute a trainer lv based on your current teams average level" Well...I know that when I'm on Pokemon (or at least used to be) I would go around with a couple strong pokemon and several weak ones that I switch in and out for EXP because I don't like having to level them up the "right way". That could mess up the "average" level. However, I completely agree with the fact that you should be able to battle a weaker person if they start the fight.

2. "could be a problem just make servers like any basic game does nitendo $$$..." There's hundreds of thousands of people that would play this game. Pokemon isn't like most games where you have a couple of friends you play with online all the time like on Halo. Pokemon is a gigantic community. My point was that since there's so many people playing, different servers would have to be made (like you said). However, if you don't run into all your friends when you're playing, what's the point? I said "if you can switch worlds, certain worlds are bound to overflow". I was trying to say that if everybody's with their friends, there's going to be some worlds that are too crowded to effectively move in. When people are in your way all the time, it's going to be hard navigating around once you get some speed on your bike. If you can walk through people, you can't talk to them though.

3. If your secret base is always a fixed area, the game won't know whose base you're trying to access. The world should be really big to accommodate for people "owning" land. That would be really cool to have your own place you "lived" in. (e.g. Person A is from Pallet Town, Person B is from Veridian City, etc.)

4. I wasn't trying to say it's too much data for one disk (it's very doable), but it might be really hard because of internet lag and such. I think it might be hard to integrate all the activity in the world at one time, though. Between the DS, Wii, TV, internet, and Servers...this game could work reaaaally slooooowly.

Lastly, I believe this game could dump the image that all you do is walk around and electrify rats and birds and crap. This game could create a genuine bond between you and your pokemon, thanks to the interactivity of the wii and DS. You could talk to your pokemon and see its mood (like in Pokemon Yellow, but not sucky). If you had that true friendship with your Pokemon and your real-life friends through the internet, it'd be great. The DS would pose some limitations on the control, of course (no motion control) but you could surely switch to a Wiimote pretty quickly for activities like fishing with your Pikachu or whatever. I think that if you combined all the great aspects that all the pokemon games developed, you'd really have something wonderful.
List:
Red/Blue - Basics of moving, catching, battling, etc.

Yellow - Being able to have every single pokemon between trades and all (before you only got one of the starters), and a "mood indication" when you talked to pikachu.

Gold/Silver - Berries, new pokeballs, other new crap.

Crystal - A true, more in-depth storyline, made it feel like the cartoon in a sense. Between the Unowns, Suicune, and all the other legendaries, you felt like you were on a true quest to be a Pokemon Master.

Ruby/Sapphire - More features, other crap

Emerald - More features, other crap...the first "3rd" game that didn't have as much to offer

Pokemon TCG - The cards were pretty cool but you had to actually buy them. I think it'd be awesome to have both "real" pokemon as well as cards in this proposed game. That would add another aspect to the game, making it last a lot longer.

Pokemon Channel - This game was great as far as ideas to add to this proposed game. The bond you get with Pikachu between watching TV and playing together to collecting things you buy over the Shop Channel. If you had that same experience with all your pokemon, the community would be great. However, not being able to move around really sucked, especially with the GameCube...motion controls with Wii should have been the answer, not simple analog cursor-moving around the small view and few areas to be in. The Wii/DS really opened up a lot of opportunities for this possibility for the future...that's going to be the thing that brings back Pokemon from the "addicted gamer collector freak" pile, to a new age of Pocket Monsters.

Thanks for hearing me out! Think about it.

1. The level 99s would kill all the lvl 2s and people would hate it, unless some form of control like in Runescape was put into place. Then...we get way too many people that have nobody to battle because all the people that have owned the game for a long time are too good to even play against the noobs.

2. There would be way too many people for Nintendo WFC to handle in world distributing. Waaaaay too many people. And if you weren't in the same world as your friends...you're gonna get mad. But if you can switch worlds, certain worlds are bound to overflow.

3. The concept of "property ownage" wouldn't work well. If every person had their own little "secret base" or house or whatever, the game would run out of land. And if you're in a different world than the one that your house is in...crap.

4. Any form of MMO on Wii seems too tough to implement right now. The only way it would really work well is with a DS-Wii combo. DS would be the voice chat (it's not gonna work without either voice chat or written messages sorta like pictochat...but voice chat seems the logical option, if bandwidth supports it. I dunno if that'd work because my Wii is extremely slow internet on a very fast wi-fi network...idk) and you could move with the d-pad and whatever like normal Pokemon games, and the wii would be the tv screen and such...well...yeah. It could work. But it certainly would take a lot more than most games...
