Jeremy Scharff-Kim Crowned Pokémon World Champion
Wednesday, August 15, 2007
Jeremy Scharff-Kim, a 13 year old Seattle, WA native, was crowned 2007 Pokémon Trading Card Game World Champion this weekend in Kona, Hawaii.
Congratulations Jeremy, but when I read that your prize winnings for becoming world champion were a $7,500 scholarship and an all expenses paid trip to next year’s championship, I said to myself, “He was robbed!”
World Champions deserve much better than that. How about trip to the Nintendo offices or having a Pokémon named after you? Now those are decent prizes. Sure it’s great that you won some money for college but by the time that you go to college, your text books will probably cost you $7,500.
It's a huge accomplishment to become a world champion in anything and the payoff should be worth all the hard work and practice that goes into getting to that world class level.

Since December, I had wanted to challenge Jeremy Scharff-Kim. I hope to see him at Nationals and beat him. And My whole League Is all talking about Tom Roos, But I'm focusing on the topic here. I became #1 In my state and I'm going to ohio. I may be Jeremy's biggest fan, but I have the impatient attitude to beat him.
